In 2011 sociologist Fabian Rosenthal founded the company as a creative and experimental handicraft venture. 

Driven by the simple principle that carrying belongings can be deeply personal, meaningful and symbolic, Fabian taught himself the ancient skill of sewing. After many iterations and prototypes, he began producing objects that reflect his background in sociology, an comprehensive exercise of reading, writing and crafting.
